Paper Studio

Paper and Paper Products that are handmade and truly sustainable.

• Handmade • Wood-Free • Wonderfully Green

Our Story

1991, a small paper unit was set up to create sustainable livelihoods for the graduates of DARE School.
It began with a handful of specially-abled youth crafting stationery for plantation offices and nearby businesses

Wood-free, Handmade Paper

Our wood-free, handmade paper is infused with natural elements like tea fiber, coffee husk and marigold, lending each sheet a unique texture and a subtle, organic fragrance.

Eco-Printed Paper

Flowers and leaves are pressed onto sheets of handmade paper and then tightly rolled and steamed. The dry sheets, once unravelled, have clear and striking natural prints.

Where Craft Meets Conscious Living

We transform cotton rags from industrial waste into sustainable, wood-free, handmade paper.

Each sheet is crafted from pulp enriched with natural elements such as tea leaves and marigold petals, giving it a unique texture and character.

From this paper, we design and handcraft an array of eco-friendly products, including journals, sketchbooks, gift box sets, lamps, paper bags and office stationery.

Explore our Wood-Free Handmade Paper Collection (link) and discover timeless creations that blend sustainability with artistry.

Our handmade paper is made without felling a single tree, carrying nature’s spirit in every sheet.

Athulya – A Zero Waste Unit

We recycle every bit of paper waste to create sustainable office stationery and organizers.

The process begins by mixing cut-waste paper with water and starch, then grinding the mixture into a pulp and finally shaping it into sheets of varied hicknesses using a cylindrical mould machine.

Our clients include High Range School, High Range Hospital, KDHP, Pallivasal Packaging Centre and more…

As a zero-waste unit, some of the offcuts from our wood-free, handmade paper are repurposed into paper jewellery and other thoughtful creations—ensuring that nothing is ever discarded.

Artisan Spotlight

Meet Mariamal and Murugeshwari: The first specially-abled associates to join Srishti Trust

Mariamal’s journey

Mariamal’s journey with Srishti Trust began in 1991, at what was then the Vocational Training Centre, now Athulya Paper Studio. In the early years, she worked on making envelopes, notepads, files and bill books for TCPL, KDHP, High Range School and High Range Hospital. She later became part of the team that started producing paper bags for Croma in 2015 and for Starbucks in 2017. Known for her speed, she and her team can make nearly 100 bags in a single day. Today, her work is focused on creating brown bags and pastry boxes for shops and resorts.

Murugeshwari's Journey

Like Mariamal, Murugeshwari joined Srishti Trust in 1991 at the Vocational Training Centre. In 1999, when the handmade paper unit was set up, she moved there and began making handmade paper products. Over time, the team created a wide variety of papers, and in 2020 introduced eco-printed paper, which expanded creative possibilities. She was also part of the team that first introduced wine bottle bags as part of the diverse range of products we offer today. Today, both Mariamal and Murugeshwari love coming to work, take pride in their craft and remain integral members of Athulya Paper Studio
