Disha

Specially-abled artisans, trained in the art of hand-smocking, stitch smocked dresses, rompers, bags, pouches and more.

Our Story

In 2021, with our other institutes bursting at the seams, we sought new avenues of employment for our specially-abled graduates.

Mrs. Ratna Krishnakumar and the Shakti women, well-versed in the art of hand-smocking, shared their skills with DARE School graduates who were gifted with their hands.

From this training, Disha was born. Today, our smocked dresses for newborns and young girls are loved far and wide, alongside playful rompers, bags and pouches.

The Art of Smocking

Smocking is a delicate form of decorative embroidery on fabric.

The cloth is first gathered into tiny pleats, then hand-embroidered with patterns that both secure the pleats and adorn the garment.

Often floral or geometric, these designs add elegance while keeping the fabric comfortable and naturally stretchy.
