Tradition and Mentorship

Shibori is an ancient Japanese resist-dyeing technique, practiced for over 1,300 years, that transforms fabric into art through intricate folds, twists and bindings.

Since 1997, world-renowned Shibori scholar and artist Yoshiko Wada has been a mentor and guide to us, regularly training our specially-abled artists at Aranya Natural.

The unique techniques she has taught have become defining
signatures of our work.

Shibori: Stories in Threads and Folds

Through time-honoured Shibori techniques like Katano, Kanoko, Kumo, Maki-age, Ori-Nui, Awase Ori Nui, Maki Nui, Itajime, Muira, Arashi and Tesuji, our artisans handcraft sarees, stoles, garments, table linen and cushion covers — each piece carrying its own rhythm of folds, twists and patterns.

Beyond textiles, we also create unique art pieces showcasing Shibori’s boundless creative potential.

We welcome custom design requests, which we thoughtfully evaluate and translate into handcrafted reality.
